Projects being run by ATMA Hazaribag
To ensure the preparation of agriculture plans for the districts and the states
based on agro-climatic conditions, availability of technology and natural
resources, and to bring about quantifiable changes in the production and productivity of
various components of Agriculture and allied sectors by addressing them in a
holistic manner.
ATMA Hazarinag is running very useful and important projects at panchayat & block level of Hazaribag district. We are putting our best efforts in making available the benefits of these project to each single farmers of the district. Projects which are being run at ATMA Hazaribag are follows :
The need for reforms in Agricultural Extension has been explicitly raised in the National Agriculture Policy; the report of Expenditure Reforms Commission, as well as, the Tenth Plan Approach paper. Keeping the recommendations of these policy initiatives in view, and to provide policy directives for extension reforms, a broad Policy Framework for Agricultural Extension (PFAE) has been developed by the Ministry of Agriculture. There are five major guiding elements of the Policy Framework. The scheme “Support to State Extension Programmes for Extension Reforms” is the main scheme to operationalize agricultural extension reforms across the country.
The National Food Security Mission launched during October, 2007 has begun
well in its initial phase of implementation. The experiences of administering this
scheme during the first agriculture year of its implementation have been very satisfying
in terms of ensuring quality of delivery of agricultural services to the farmers and good
outcome achieved in the process. The focused approach of the mission with direct
funding arrangement to the State and District level autonomous agencies and
provisioning of dedicated project management teams for catalyzing result oriented
implementation has been benefiting millions of farmers across the country in the
targeted States and the Districts.
Agriculture in the State is mainly rainfed, targeting production for subsistence. The major crops being paddy, maize, finger millets, black gram, groundnut, niger during kharif and wheat during rabi. Even though rainfed rice yields are low (less than 1 ton / ha.), and unstable, rice is being cultivated to meet the food demands of small, and marginal farmers who possess 75% of total farm holdings. Small and marginal landholders face different types of problems than large farmers. They have to be dependent on farming for their household needs and majority of these farmers are resource constrained, economically poor and have low level of education.
